Who is Ts. Lukas J. Tan?
Ts. Lukas J. Tan is a Malaysian technology entrepreneur, author and digital transformation practitioner with more than 19 years of experience. He is Founder and CEO of OPERiON Ecommerce & Software Sdn Bhd and Founder and Organising Chairman of the Penang Digitalisation-AI Conference & Exhibition (PDX). He wrote Scam-Proof: Before It's Too Late and the ScamAlert Junior series, and he founded K Publisher.
A builder first
Lukas got his first computer, an Intel 486 running DOS 5.0, at age 10. He studied Information Systems Engineering at Tunku Abdul Rahman College, founded Maple Software Creation in Butterworth, Penang, in 2007, and repositioned it as OPERiON in 2014. He has trained programmers and spoken at universities across Malaysia, and OPERiON has earned national recognition including JCI Malaysia honours, the Golden Bull Emerging SME Award and SEBA's Best Software Provider award. His current work centres on AI leadership, digital transformation and digital trust.

Why he writes about scams
For 18 months, scammers impersonated his own company, OPERiON. Looking closely at what happened, he found that every scam, however modern, comes back to deception, illegal gain and lasting harm, and the tricks that make people act are human ones: fear, urgency, trust, greed, authority and emotion. Technology only changes how the trick is delivered. That experience became Scam-Proof, written in plain English for people without a technical background, and led him into schools to share the same lessons with students.
Why two books
Scam prevention cannot be taught to everyone in the same way. Scam-Proof is for adults, and it works on how manipulation, psychology and decision-making make people vulnerable. ScamAlert Junior is for children aged 10 to 12 (Darjah 4 to 6), and it uses stories and characters to teach one habit: slow down, ask, tell a trusted adult. Children who learn it can carry the conversation home to parents and grandparents.
